Request for Proposals: Ed Wood Trade and Industry Center Expansion

Southeast Technical College, Sioux Falls, SD

Southeast Technical College and the Sioux Falls School District board are seeking proposals from qualified, experienced consultants for architectural and engineering services to expand and remodel the Ed Wood Trade and Industry Center on the Southeast Tech campus in Sioux Falls.

Background

The population of Sioux Falls and the region is growing, and the college has seen a 10% percent increase in student enrollment over the last decade and expects another 20% increase in the coming decade.

STC sought to engage stakeholders in the community to gather feedback and develop a solution. In 2023, engagement with Sen. John Thune’s office led to a federal appropriation to expand the Ed Wood building. Additionally, STC held sector breakfast information sessions for community members, faculty and staff and created a facilities task force. The task force inquired and received information about the city’s growth; the region's economic growth; additional construction, manufacturing and trade program needs; along with potential solutions to address the workforce shortage within the region and state of South Dakota.
